HORSE SPONSORSHIPS
Providing soft landings for horses in need.
We at Ottawa Care Farm take in horses who are in need of a new home due to age or medical concerns. We invite the community to partner with us to cover the costs of the horse's medical and nutritional needs.
Families can sponsor a horse for $50/month and come visit the horses twice a week if they wish. They can take part in the care of the horses while they are here and also chose to participate in workshops in order to learn how to handle the horses.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Horse sponsors pay a monthly fee of $50/month. This fee goes towards the medical and nutritional needs of the horses.
The horses that we care for are not riding horses - currently we have two blind horses and one that has a spinal deformity. These horses were all in danger of being put down because of their conditions.
Horse sponsors can come and visit the horses throughout the week and love on them. We welcome sponsors to participate in their care - feeding, watering, grooming and cleaning their pens while they are visiting.
In the first month, new sponsors are required to take two "lessons" that will teach them what they need to safely handle the horses. Please be assured that all horses are screened for temperament and hand-ability. These lessons are "free".

Horse sponsors who are under 16 OR have limited horse experience must be supervised by an adult (or another adult buddy for adult sponsors).

We depend on the fees from the sponsorship program - so please think carefully before committing to be a sponsor.
